We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst with strong expertise in airline Passenger Service Systems (PSS) to drive product development and enhancements for a major Middle East carrier's reservation platform. The ideal candidate combines 5–6 years of business analysis experience in airline reservation environments with hands-on technical proficiency in SQL and data querying. This role bridges business intent and technical delivery, owning the product backlog and ensuring that every release moves the platform closer to its commercial and customer experience goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams for all PSS-related initiatives.
- Own and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, customer impact, and technical feasibility.
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for reservation system enhancements and third-party integrations.
- Translate business needs into clear, well-structured user stories with testable acceptance criteria.
- Lead backlog grooming and refinement sessions with development and QA teams on a regular cadence.
- Collaborate closely with developers and architects to ensure proposed solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Perform impact analysis for new features, system changes, and PSS vendor releases before commitment.
- Run SQL queries against reservation, inventory, and booking datasets for validation, troubleshooting, and operational reporting.
- Monitor PSS performance and engage directly with vendors to drive timely resolution of production issues.
- Ensure all changes comply with airline operational requirements, IATA standards, and applicable industry regulations.
- Plan and support User Acceptance Testing, including scenario design, defect triage, and resolution coordination.
- Prepare release notes, product documentation, and stakeholder training materials for each delivery cycle.
- Facilitate communication between commercial, operations, IT, and external GDS/PSS vendor teams.
- Track post-release adoption and performance metrics, and feed learnings back into the backlog.
- Support roadmap planning by surfacing dependencies, risks, and opportunities across PSS modules.
- Maintain a single source of truth for reservation system business rules, workflows, and integration contracts.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Product Owner working directly on airline reservation systems (PSS).
- Strong working knowledge of end-to-end airline reservation processes, including booking, ticketing, ancillary services, and post-departure flows.
- Hands-on proficiency with SQL for query execution, data validation, and analytical reporting.
- Practical familiarity with API integrations, XML/JSON messaging standards, and PSS interface design.
- Demonstrated experience operating in Agile/Scrum environments, owning a product backlog through delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder management and written communication skills, with the ability to translate between business and technical audiences.
- Exposure to Sabre, Amadeus, or comparable PSS platforms; CSPO or CBAP certification and any cloud/microservices familiarity considered a strong plus.
